Married since 1964.

Retired May 2005 from LSU as Poet-in-Residence.

Author of four books of poetry, most recently from LSU Press, and recipient of
Governor’s Arts Award for Professional Artist of the Year in Louisiana.

Husband – Tom Owen, Harvard Ph.D., also retired from LSU as Russian History
Professor.

Brother – Rod Matthews, Harvard J.D., retired with wife Marie in Madison and Lake
Placid, Florida.

Mother – Betty Matthews, 98, now lives in Madison at Chamomile Assisted Living.

International Travel – Europe and Morocco, including five trips to Russia; a trip
around the world for our 60th birthdays to Greece, Egypt, Turkey, China, and Japan;
and to India for our 40th anniversary.  Trips since 2005 – Paris with Mother;
Denmark, Sweden and Finland; Switzerland with Mother; South America for our 65th
birthdays; Holland and Norway for our 45th anniversary.  Trips since 2010 – Brazil;
London with Mother for her 90th birthday; Southern Africa for our 70th birthdays; and
Mediterranean cruise for our 50th anniversary.  Trips since 2015 – Moscow and Rome;
and Southeast Asia for our 75th birthdays.

Current Activities – Sue: Member of Bay Square Book Club, founded by her in 2006.

Tom: Associate of the Davis Russian Research Center at Harvard.

Both members of Great Books Discussion Group at the Cambridge Public Library.
